What are sight words? Sight words are those tricky words that usually can not be 'sound out', which becomes difficult for beginner readers. As children learn how to recognize these words by sight, it allows for better fluency, comprehension, and confidence. Building a child’s sight word vocabulary will also build their writing vocabulary.
It is important to practice sight words daily, whether it be through a game, flash cards, etc. New sight words will be assigned each week, so practicing and mastering them weekly is imperative! By the end of Kindergarten, students should be able to recognize 100+ sight words!
